Since 2020 at the latest, homeoffice has become an integral part of everyday working life. The outbreak of the Corona pandemic has meant that — if the job allows it — most people now work from home. At first, this sounds like a newfound freedom for many — until reality sets in. Daily routines are dropped and a lot of self-discipline is required. It’s unfamiliar and a new challenge for everyone. We’ve compiled the most important tips that help for a productive home office day.
Set up a permanent workspace for yourself. By doing this, you create a place that signals to you that work is being done there. This makes it easier to separate work from your freetime and helps you focus. Make sure your workspace is always tidy, because no one can work efficiently in chaos, it’s just distracting.
Remove all factors that could distract you while you work. This definitely includes your smartphone, unless you need it to work. The absence of the smartphone will keep you focused and your attention will last for a longer period of time.
A morning routine helps to mentally prepare yourself for work. So, for example, get up at the same time every day, make your bed, shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and then plan the upcoming work day. Start each workday at the same time and, as far as possible, always end it at the same time. Structure in your daily routine promotes productivity immensely.
Plan your workday each morning. Set goals that you want to achieve that day and write them down on a to-do list, for example. This way, you’ll always have in mind what’s coming up and when the tasks need to be accomplished. When you can check off the list in the evening, you’ll realize what you’ve accomplished and that, in turn, will motivate you to work at least as efficiently the next day.
If you sit at your desk all day, you should get outside at least once a day. Fresh air helps you think clearly. It doesn’t have to be a full gym routine every day, just go for a walk around the block.
Why don’t you try implementing these tips? You will see that it will be much easier for you to work productively. And of course, working from home doesn’t just have its disadvantages, it also has its good points, such as the fact that you don’t have to go to work and the time you save. So, good luck!
